Some fellow Bush-backers and I joined a couple hundred great Americans at the State Theater in Falls Church, VA last night for an evening with Billy Joe Shaver. This underappreciated Texas troubadour premiered a new documentary on his life and then took the stage with a crack band for two solid hours of rockin'-country-the-way-it-was-meant-to-be.
I had Billy Joe and some friends over to the White House back when I was director of media affairs (early 2001) - I'll save that story for later...
Needless to say, Billy Joe's in a industry where politics is basically a excuse for the exercise of intolerance by self-proclaimed liberals (supposedly tolerant folk). I don't know much about Billy Joe's politics. I just know he was proud to sing "Freedom's Choice" last night and dedicate to our troops, "folks just doing their jobs for our country," as he put it.
Shaver is a national treasure - not just because he's a patriot, but because he's a mostly unheralded genius of the heart and soul.
Are we aware the Western World (including the U.S.) is in World War IV?
During the Clinton Administration years, Dr. Francis Fukyama's bestseller (1992), The End of History and the Last Man, celebrated the Cold War's end (some call it World War III). The USSR's Iron Curtain lay in rust heaps. Only one superpower survived, the U.S.. Some dubbed it "King of the World". Defense budgets were slashed (voted for by John Kerry again and again), and we could benefit from the "Peace Dividend". Those savings helped fuel the 90's economic boom. But Fukyama's dream of a golden era of peace is over.
Along the way something was happening. In 1998 two U.S. embassies were bombed in
East Africa. These were only two among many attacks on U.S. and other Western interests -- the USS Cole, etc. Few seemed to recognize a new World War had begun, a new kind of war. One Harvard intellectual did, even though Harvard graduate John Kerry did not. Samuel Huntington, Harvard professor emeritus, wrote The Clash of Civilizations (1996). He wrote of a world divided between three powerful religious civilizations: Eastern Religions (Hinduism, Buddhism, etc.), the Judeo-Christian West, and a third the one dominated by Islamic nations, a belt from Nigeria in the West eastward to Indonesia. Huntington's thesis is that a great confrontation is underway between the Muslim world and the Western World. Huntington even predicted in his book that Islam will win!
That point can be argued. But terrorist doctrine as applied by a virulent form of Islamic fundamentalism is powerful. Witness its affect on Spain's elections. When what former CIA Director Jim Woolsley calls World War IV broke into the open in the mid-90's, the Clinton administration was asleep at the switch and showed no recognition of what was occurring.. But when 9-11 occurred President George W. Bush responded as he needed in order to defend the U.S. and Western Allies, even those "allies" who still don't get it. I fear that if John Kerry had been President, he would still be trying to get "Global Support" -- including from the very nations dominated by fundamentalist Islamic forces, many of which are members of the United Nations (like Sudan which is charged with monitoring human rights issues, while allowing genocide of Christian and animist populations within its own borders). Those nations aren't likely to respond to Summits!
I support a decisive President, one who doesn't waffle or waver! We must realize our President is neither stubborn nor arrogant. He is leading us in a response to a conflict we did not start! Pearl Harbor convinced "the Greatest Generation" that a state of war existed. Too many in today's generation still don't realize a new kind of war started even before 9-11. What will it take to wake up those who are lulled to sleep in front of their TV's? If this generation is more concerned about what government can do for us (who's responsible for my flu shots, how much I have to pay for gas, etc.) than we are about the kind of world we're passing on to our children and grandchildren, then there is reason to fear for our nation's future.

It is my hope that we can get those with a more conservative voice in entertainment a leg up. I refuse to see films by Tim Robbins and the like, I buy mostly Country music cuz they are intouch with America's heart.
I would like to thank Ron Silvers for coming out for our great President and supporting Dubya in the face of pressure from vile hollywood elites..
I also love to listen to the late great Lee Atwater!
Thanks Tucker for allowing us to get a wee bit of insight into you and your efforts.. We who remember you from the good ol SC days still love you!

I'd like to see comments about Theresa Heinz's 37 companies she outsourced overseas which took away American jobs. Does anyone have info on that? If the Kerry folks are so concerned about jobs, maybe she should bring her's back to the USA.

I just saw on Fox.. If your soc sec benefits you are receiving now are 24,000 and if you had invested those payments in even low return investments, you now would be receiving 124,000 per year.

So you don't think John Kerry looks manly in a camouflage jacket? It's not nearly as scary a picture as the idea of Dick Cheney squatting in a duck blind in waders...or a pair of speedos. I don't think the manly-man thing's gonna fly for the Republicans. The other day I watched the presidunce trying to cut a log on "the ranch." He was using a little girl's saw with a 12" bar and a dull chain; you'd think the presidunce could afford a sharp chain? (you'd think the presidunce would have a longer bar)
So what's the scoop sissy-boys? You wanna have a pissing contest with your little, white willies, but you're afraid to print the word pissing? Heheheh! Better circle the wagons at the nearest Pentacostal church.
In your alcohol-muddled minds you may be tough guys, but you're gonna piss in your wool pants when The Viking comes through the door. Just remember, the guns'll protect you, girls. Sure they will. See ya at the barbeque.

I couldn't agree with you more on,"folks just doing their jobs" comment.
I was at a theater play the other day and as sure as I knew the performers would take a completely out of context bashing, there it came. Slam on the Catholic Church, slam on Republicans. I got up and walked out. Next time I am going to ask for my money back at the door.
I was at a fair in our town last month and enjoying a very talented, funny juggler. True to form he started spewing bashes towards the Republicans and President Bush. I left in the middle of his show.
I am into marketing and what we call that is "bait and switch". We do not come to hear their political views, we come to watch or listen to what it is they do. Obviously we know what that is now.
Since when is an actor or singer an authority on political issues? That is not any different than any of the rest of us expressing our opinion (1st Amendment applies to them only-in their minds).
Granted, they have the "right" to give their view but at what cost? I think that most recently Rosie O’Donnell started this with her gun-grabbing views and blind siding Tom Sleek as a guest on her show. The Dixie Chix where next in there with their Bush bashing and let's not forget Richard Gere's anti-American, anti-God and anti-Bush statement at Hollywierds little self admiration society meeting paying tribute to the actor. I believe the words he used were something like, "I fear a country that places it's trust in a man that believes in God. Especially when that man is the President of the United States."
I about fell out of my chair when I heard that. Not a word was mentioned on conservative talk radio about this. Most likely because no self-respecting conservative would be caught watching that garbage. Ok, my excuse was that my wife likes this schlep and I was working away on my laptop during this not paying much attention to it until I heard that! Am I excused? The only reference I ever saw towards this was when I saw footage of the new DVD movie FAITH about President Bushes faith. He is the real deal! There I heard a clip from that award show of Gere’s hateful, anti-American statement.
Actor Matt Damon just opened his,” pie hole" and insulted the President and the USA while in Europe most recently. He made the list.
Besides praying for these people, we need to totally boycott them. Now most Americans I believe are weak on this. I will not let any shows with Rosie O, music by the Dixie Chix or movies by Richard Gere, Matt Damon (and a growing list) into my home. Period! The list of "entertainers" grows by the day as they make their political views known. Perhaps some conservative web site that is highly looked at can post the "do not patronize" list, which is updated weekly.
Now anyone that took the oath to protect the United States of America remembers something in there about protecting the USA from, “invaders both foreign AND DOMESTIC.” I consider these new America hater, freedom hater liberals of today as the DOMESTIC INVADERS. What do you think?
These are very wealthy people, made wealthy by the very people watching or listening to them. When they figure out their sales drop off in a big way after they open their "pie holes" and spew out anything other than what they are paid to do.
We really need to unite on this.

What about the "blocked" movie "Stolen Valor". This is certainly a freedom of speech issue. Do the American people have the right "to know" the truth?? Where is the outrage over the Podesta e-mail to the Demos to do anything they can to stop this movie? Does censorship work only one way? I had to order and pay for a copy to see it. Wow! That is censorship. But let Micheal Moore roll on without a sound.

Jobs outsourced-where?
American jobs are OUTSOURCED by Teresa Heinz-Kerry. John Kerry has told
reporters that our current president supports outsourcing and he
doesn't!!>We need to ask: Why not manufacture in America and ship finished
products overseas? How many American workers are in these Heinz overseas
factories? What is the wage structure in these plants. Guess that's how she
made over $50 million in 2003....

I've been amazed that John Kerry's consistently blamed President Bush for what OSAMA BIN LADEN has done to our country--lost jobs, jeapardized security, struggling economy, etc. But I've also been amazed that President Bush has absorbed the criticism instead of pointing out Kerry's confusion between the two. He needs to stand up and say, "John Kerry's the one with a reality problem, mistaking me with America's #1 enemy." (I do like Bush's response to Kerry's criticism that he took his eye off the ball, that when it comes to Osama Bin Laden or Saddam Hussein, it's not either/or, it's both/and.)

Read to the end.........
Influenza vaccine is produced by growing the virus in eggs.
The virus is killed and processed to create the vaccine,
which is given by injection under the skin.
The body then produces antibodies to the virus over the next
two to four weeks.
If the immunized person then comes into contact with the influenza
virus, the antibodies attack and kill the virus before it has a chance to cause infection.
The vaccine contains the 3 most likely strains to be active during
the "flu season" .
Why the shortage:
Almost half of the nation's flu vaccine will not be delivered this year.
Chiron, a major manufacturer of flu vaccine, will not be distributing
any influenza vaccine this flu season.
Chiron was to make 46-48 million doses vaccine for the United States. Chiron is a British company.
Recently British health officials stopped Chiron from distributing and
making the vaccine
when inspectors found unsanitary conditions in the labs. Some lots
of the vaccine were recalled and destroyed.
Why is our vaccine made in the UK and not the US ?
The major pharmaceutical companies in the US provided almost
90% of the nations flu vaccine at one time.
They did this despite a very low profit margin for the product. Basically, they were doing us a favor.
In the late 80's a man from North Carolina who had received the vaccine got the flu.
The strain he caught was one of the strains in that years vaccine made by a US company.
What did he do? He sued and he won. He was awarded almost $5 million!
After that case was appealed and lost, most US pharmaceutical companies stopped making the vaccine.
The liability out weighed the profit margin.
Since UK and Canadian laws prohibit such frivolous law suits
UK and Canadian companies began selling the vaccine in the US.
By the way...the lawyer that represented the man in the
flu shot law suit was current DEMOCRATIC VP NOMINEE
JOHN EDWARDS
IS THIS TRUE? SOMEONE EMAILED IT TO ME.

I am pleased Tucker you have started a blog! I'd like to share some comments. Thank you for the opportunity.
1. Tucker your post regarding the band, I would suggest you choose your words very carefully, you stated in your post 'crack band', I know what you mean as most other Americans do. But you know how the opposite side often plays the game. They will take your words and put them on another site and say 'See Tucker admits a 'crack' band played.'
2. Re: Dave Viking comments: re Gere, ...'believes in God.' Guess he hasn't read or studied the Dalai Lama's life or some of his words! Also, ...'watching garbage...recall the Last Samuri, one must know his enemy if you will. One needs to understand the way they think.
3.Need to boycott! I prefer to make a suggestion.I am a centralist Rep. I unlike most of the Democrats do not tell people what they should do. Some Dem. are very good at telling everyone else what they should do. Most Rep. imo, prefer to make their logical point and then call the person to action through suggestion. Honoring their individual decision. After all, it should be about free will, free choice. IMo
4. Re: Roy Meadows: ...'absorbed criticism...'
I would like to remind there is a huge difference between criticism and constructive feedback. I honor our President for his restraint.
5. Here in Oregon, many Oregonians are attempting to fill people with fear. Don't display a sign for the President or Defense of Marriage, cause we'll steal them or defame them.
7,000 Defense of Marriage signs have been either stolen or defamed. Rep. candidate signs are also stolen and defamed. Portland, Or. Rep. office was fired at through the windows this past week! Some say the government is taking away our civil rights, I don't know about that but I can tell you that there are very strong groups here in beautiful Oregon who want us to shut up, don't vote, and infers we are filled with hate and lies. Most of us are not! One neighbor whose signs had been stolen finally made his own sign which said in essence""Allow Me to Express My Opinion on My Own Property!" Well said neighbor.
Please let us join together and pray for our Nation, our President, candidates and measures and ask God for Divine Order, protection, clarity of thought and Right Action throughout our great nation.
One last comment: When I learned to type in the 50's, one of the sentences we used to speed build was this, "Now is the time for all good people to come to the aid of their country." We have been told in many ways for decades that the enemy is within. Yes, some of those that serve on the Hill are also enemies dressed in disguise. Look at their records and don't defend them just because they are a Dem. or Rep. Time to speak and stand for the truth. At least that is how I view this election cycle!
Regards,
t in Oregon

Your post regarding Edwards being the lawyer is an e-mail hoax. You can go to www.breakthechain.org, look in forum and you can see for yourself.
Breakthechain.org is a great place to find out if the e-mails you are getting are genuine or not.
I just saw this one in the forum yesterday and the Forum moderator brought the falseness of the e-mail to the public.
Another example how we should be very careful what we post. You were quite wise in asking the question is it true! Good job Judi!

The goose-hunting camo jacket was one thing but how 'bout that yeller Carhardt jacket he insists on wearing while flailing his arms and spreading lies? Perhaps he hopes people will think he works/labors physically and needs it???
The guy simply is not of this time and place. His stiff countenance would fit better in the way past when politicians often were stiff and totally lacked a sense of humor.

I don't know how you are going to deal with the media's biased "reality checks" but the young and new votors in Minnesota believe what they hear. Frankly, they hear that both candidates are lying to the American public. Of the two sides, they seem to believe that the Bush campaign is lying more than Kerry. Their opinions reflect a lack of historical perspective or the culture of other nations. I fault our education system and the media for this ignorance. Here are the opinions I hear from friends and neighbors:
1. President Bush blew it in Iraq. The army was prepared to wage a frontal war, but not a terrorist insurrection, anarchy, or urban guerilla warfare. The army did not anticipate and failed to prevent the looting and lawlessness that followed the military campaign to topple the government. The US military is clueless about police work.
2. President Bush is owned body and soul by big business. The drug companies want to make people sick and fat so they can sell expensive drug maintenance for life. Canada gets more favorable drug prices because there is more competition and they don't put up with price gouging. As a result, the US customers pay more than their share for the cost of research and development. The FDA is in league with the drug companies.
3. President Bush's tax cut did favor the wealthiest Americans, including himself. The middle class got a lot less relief than the rich. The tax cut is a short-term fix with horrific long-term consequences. They don't buy the small-business explanation at all. (They are clueless about the corporate tax policy or the difference between S-corporations and C-corporations. Since they are not corporations, they do not have to know about this to fill out their tax returns.)
3. Health care in the US is a disaster. The people who need health care the most don't have it because they cannot afford it. HMOs are not saving their clients money and are not improving health of their patients. They are building big buildings, adding another layer of overhead, making profits on the backs of the doctors and patients, and skimming the proceeds. As a result, the US has some of the poorest health care of the major nations with the greatest healthcare expense. Healthcare is broke and the President won't fix it.
4. Medicare is not paying their bills on time. Doctors are going broke trying to collect for their services. Many won't even service medicare patients unless they also have some other supplemental insurance.
5. Tort law is a joke. Our court system needs fixing big-time. Tort lawyers are getting rich because the court system only offers punitive damages to the defendants and the lawyers skim off a third of the award. Why can't the courts punish the corporate wrong-doers instead of the corporations? Why can't tort legal fees be capped within the statute of frauds? Why can't the corporations be denied or lose patent protection or copyright protection as a punitive award? (Apparently, they know more about legal issues than economics.)
5. They believe that Al Quaida is alive and well in spite of what our President says. They also believe that the USA cannot do the job alone and that our President has "pissed off" our allies. Allies that are still willing to help us are not supported by their voting population. The US cannot fight a war on 60 fronts.
6. Overall, they are cynical about the competencies of both Presidential candidates. They wonder which one will do the least amount of damage. Then they plan to hold their nose and vote.
If the Republicans cannot remedy these opinions, our President will lose Minnesota.

How can someone who is sworn to protect the Constitution and Bill of Rights, upon thier taking office, do anything but that. How do they get away with striking down the 1st Amendment (NRA's Voice - my voice)and stay in office. What can be done to show the nation just how two faced the gun hatteres are? How can we as Viet Nam veterans tell Kerry, "WE DON'T SUPPORT YOU AND YOUR WHINNING WAYS!" It seams to me that a grass-roots movement to impeach him would be the best course of action. Lets keep him and his dog pack out of the White House! What can be done?

I thought you people were anti-drug? Do any of you ever read what you write or is this some sort of instinctual reaction? "When Bush Cheney e-mails me I will write something...anything"...its like night of the living dead. Ooops, I guess that's probably a little close to home, huh? Sorry.
I'm just back from "defaming" some Lush Cheney signs so I'm pretty tired. The black spirits are out TPing the homes of conservative white folks. Wooooooooo! We're coming....wooooooooo.....go....into....the....church.....wooooooo-oooooo!

An earlier post suggested the US and the western world was involved in WW IV. I agree. However, unlike prior wars, the US is the only western nation that realizes this fact. Most of the nations of the west follow liberal idealogies and, in a strange way, are in an odd agreement with the radical Islamist in their hatred of the traditional Judeo-Christian world-view still observed by most Americans. William Bennett said it best, we are in a cultural war and the battle fields are idealogical, which idealogy is our society going to be based.
This takes me to why the true believers of the liberal Democratic party hate Bush so much. They hate Bush because he is effective and he is a Christian and represents the Judeo-Christian world-view. The liberal media realize that if the public views Bush as an effective leader it will set their liberal political agenda for America back a generation or more. Americans must be made to believe the liberal world-view is the only source of social stability and able to answer our national problems. Bush flies in the face of this political agenda. WW IV is being fought right now, in each election between traditional values, the Republican party, and liberal values, the Democratic party. Liberal parties in Canada and western Europe are part of this cultural war.
However, what the liberals of the western world do not realize is that if the radical Islamist win in Iraq and cause America to withdraw, they of the liberal west are next in line. The strange alliance that their hatred of traditional America has created between the radical Islamist and the western liberal will end. For example, if Germany and Japan had won WWII, they would have ended up fighting each other for world dominance. In this battle the radical Islamist would win because the flaw of the western liberal is that they cannot deal with reality. Their belief-system is based on a false-reality, is based on lies and deception and they believe their own deception. The radical Islamic world-view is based on violence, force, death and dieing. They make no pretense about their aims and the levels they will go to to advance their aims. The liberals of the west will try to co-exist with them and do as Kerry said, "treat them as a minor inconvenience."
